Assisting technology startups in Waterloo
Since 1998, I've primarily worked with startup and early-stage technology companies in and around Waterloo, Ontario. These days, almost all of my work is through Communitech, the technology association serving Waterloo Region, and WatStart, the Waterloo Technology Startup Network.
Services available at no charge
Thanks to funding from from Industry Canada's IRAP and the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation, most of the work I do is available at no cost to startup tech companies.
If you have -- or are thinking of starting -- a technology company in Waterloo Region, just contact me through Communitech at gary@communitech.ca and I'll either help you directly or hook you up with appropriate expertise on any business issue, including:
- Attracting investors and other sources of funding
- Refining your business plan and pitch
- Marketing strategy
- General business strategy
- Accessing mentoring services
- Meeting and learning from others working at tech startups in the area
- Information about other programs and organizations serving the startup market
- Referrals to legal and accounting expertise and other service providers with experience helping tech startups
Through Communitech's entrepreneur services, you can also have access to our executives-in-residence (currently Ron Neumann, Kevin Tuer, and Dan Mathers) as well as the monthly ViaTech sessions where you can have free access to a panel of business experts for 90 minutes to discuss whatever issues you'd like.
WatStart runs get-togethers through the year for startup tech entrepreneurs. To get on the mailing list, just send me an e-mail. It also is a sponsor of the BarCampWaterloo events, which is another group you might want to join.
